My Role

Ryan and I had to make a paper prototype to simulate an intimacy system in a MOBA, in 1 week. We settled on 2v2 Chess-like game where players can interact with only differently colored pawns. Later I programmed the online version.

Game Details

Capture the Flag

There are 4 Flags in the middle of the battlefield. Players must move their pawns onto a Flag and deliver it to the other side.

Player Movement

Each player has 2 different colored pawns, and they move them one after another. Pawns can jump over other pawns, but only if they don't share a color.

Online Implementation

The online version lets 2 players connect to the same room, so that they can play with each other across different computers.

Retrospective

While I don't find games like Chess to be very enjoyable on a repeat playthrough (because the starting positions are always identical), I can appreciate them for their demonstration of player skill, and I feel this game is also very skillful and provides players the opportunity to make creative plays. I am also proud of create a working online version, as I've always wanted to try and do that for some of my games, and this was a simple enough game to try it out with.
