Today in class, Aaron brought up a fun question: what if every time you woke up, you had a new debilitating phobia? So one day you might be scared of spiders, and then the next day you might be scared of the ocean. And you wouldn't know you what phobia you had that day unless you encounter it, so maybe you would never know that you were scared of the ocean. On the other hand if you needed to go outside but it turns out you have agoraphobia (a fear of outside places), you'd be in trouble.

This made me look up a list of phobias, and some of them are so specific that they're funny. Here are my favorites.

anatidaephobia: fear of ducks watching you

ambulophobia: fear of walking

emetophobia: fear of vomiting

gamophobia: fear of marriage

pogonophobia: fear of beards

caligynephobia: fear of beautiful women

arachibutyrophobia: fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth

hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia: fear of long words

phobophobia: fear of phobias

Yep, that's today's blog post. And my listing those phobias, I'll probably get canceled for laughing at trauma survivors.
